Butcher are Ghouls that are more proficient in the melee attacks. They are seen carrying different types of melee weapons.

Armaments & Tactics[]
Butcher Ghouls will simply run at the Stalkers, and hit them with a battered melee weapon, which ranges from pipe wrenches to axes. They are rather weak compared to other Ghouls, but when they get in close, they can deal large amounts of damage and distract the player from dealing with more powerful enemies, while said more powerful enemies deal with the Stalkers instead.

- Butcher Ghouls are possibly based on Thuggish Splicers from Bioshock, as they share several similarities (wielding melee weapons the player cannot, being reasonably fast, and being the weakest enemy in the game).
- Like all Ghouls, Butchers voices are distorted, and typically act "cartoonishly evil"; they can commonly be found talking about 'crushing' or 'eating' Stalkers
