Metal man are essentially robots (mechanical beings) that is the remnants from the old age. Created for various purposes by the Ancients, these mechanical beings have outlasted their creators, now serving as silent sentinels in the Zone.
They are typically found broken (as robot scraps) in the parts of the Zone that is closer to the Ark, whereas functioning ones are more frequently to be seen deeper inside the Zone and further away from the Ark.
They are usually seen performing their last pre-programmed ordered tasks, such as escorting found personnel into the quarantine facility and catching anyone that performs traffic violations such as jaywalking.
Some robots such as Med-Bots will not harm the Stalkers but others such as Polis-Bots will attack on sight if encountered.
Dialogue[]
The Stalkers will meet with the metal men for the first time in Izza & Fala where they will give comments about them.
Bormin : Elder almighty, that's a metal man. A real metal man, walking around and everything.
Dux : Let me ask you guys something, is that a metal man working in there? Like a man made out of metal?
Selma : Now I've seen it all... I think that's a Robot, an actual working Robot.
